Patricio Bridges confronts William Bloom on Radio Netherlands

CFPA Director Pat Bridges was invited by Radio Netherlands to participate in the Amsterdam Forum which features American socialist William Bloom, author of 'Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower' a book that was endorsed by Osama bin Laden.

Pat was allowed to ask Mr. Bloom one question and to give a response to Mr. Bloom's answer.

Pat Bridges: "Islamic terrorists have declared war on the United States and basically Western civilization. It is our right to eradicate this menace by any means necessary. How would you Mr. Bloom deal with this problem, would you attack this enemy or would you change American foreign policy to cater to our enemy's agenda?

To paraphrase Mr. Bloom: "I would change American foreign policy. It is that foreign policy which is responsible for the spread of radical Islamic terrorism"

To paraphrase Pat's response: " Then what was responsible for the spread of Islamic radicalism against Western civlization in the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries....before the United States even existed? It has alway's been Islam's goal to conquer and take over the West."

Mr. Bloom: "Can you tell me of one single document that proves that's true?"

Pat Bridges: " Yes, I can....The Koran"

In the past Mr. Bloom has stated: "If I were president, I could stop terrorist attacks against the United States in a few days. Permanently. I would first apologize - very publicly and very sincerely - to all the widows and orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, and all the many millions of other victims of American imperialism."

We don't know what kind of world Mr. Bloom is living in but it is evident that he does not understand the enemy we are up against. In his fantasy world, President Bloom would make a sincere apology and Osama bin Laden and his boys would just pack up, go back home and become peaceful farmers and business men.

Each week the English language service of Radio Netherlands presents Amsterdam Forum - a current affairs discussion program hosted by Andy Clark. The program was taped today and it will be aired on Radio Netherlands on Sunday February 12th.
